I have finally been able to sit down with all my paints, paper and ink and get a journal page done. Whew…. I wish I could have two weeks to do all the projects I have going through my head. When I’m at work all I think about lately is getting back to some type of project.
This journal page came from a lesson at church at the beginning of the month. I like to take notes at church now during lessons. It helps me listen better and gives me good ideas for my art journal. I have been hanging onto these notes because they had such a special message of not only love for others but how to continuously show love to our Father in heaven. The talk was given by By Marvin Ashton called “Love takes time”.
I don’t know what it is but I love working with paper sacks. The cheap lunch bag sized ones you get for elcheapo. White ones or brown there is so much you can do with them. As you saw on a previous post I used a bag for my art journal cover. This next project I’m pretty sure I seen on Pinterest. Wod up a paper bag, draw on the creases and do what you want in each shape. I have just introduced myself to the zentangle world so I thought it would be fun to play around with. It is taking me a lot longer than I expected but it is a fun thing to take on trips or when I’m watching TV. Not sure what I’ll do with it when I’m done 🙂
A couple weeks ago in church they announced they were getting rid of some old Hymn books. My son and I decided they would make a perfect art journal for our spiritual journal that we like to do. I’m pleased to announce that I picked 4 up today. I have to get rid of some pages for my art journal to work in such a thick book. So I did what some might think unthinkable… And cut out some pages and ripped them and then modge pogged them into my everyday art journal. I didn’t feel near as bad as I thought I would. I can’t wait to figure out what to do with this background.
The beginning of 2015 had me feeling excited. I was ready to make it the best year yet! I was scrolling through Pinterest and my cousin was pinning art journal ideas. Apparently I’ve been out of the loop, I had no idea what an art journal was but it looked Awesome! So I started pinning fun things for my art journal.
My journal is just a composition book I had laying around. I love to learn all the fun techniques that I can make beautiful backgrounds with. There are so soooo many artists that I have been following and it amazes me what they do.
My only problem is, I work all day and have very little time to do my art Journal. The day I have found to work the best is Sunday. I usually base my ideas off of what I learned in church that day. I think I’m going to make a Spiritual journal and an everyday.
This is the cover of one of my journals. It is a crinkled lunch bag even the flowers and the white are all lunch bags. I modge pogged over the top. I’m sure I’ll add a little more depth at some point but I kind of like it. Especially for me coming up with the idea on my own.
